Akagera Management Company Ltd is hiring a Head Mechanic / Head of Fleet to manage and oversee all mechanical operations within Akagera National Park.


This role ensures that all vehicles, boats, and equipment are safe, reliable, and fully operational. The position involves leading the mechanical team, managing workshop operations, and implementing effective maintenance systems in a demanding field environment.

Key Responsibilities


  • Plan and implement fleet maintenance schedules

  • Supervise workshop operations (safety, cleanliness, tools)

  • Manage spare parts inventory

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports

  • Lead and mentor junior mechanics

  • Ensure compliance with SOPs

  • Promote safety, accountability, and professionalism




Qualifications and Skills


  • Diploma or certificate in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering (TVET or equivalent)

  • Experience with Toyota 70 Series vehicles and Yamaha outboard engines

  • Experience with heavy machinery (CAT graders, tractors, generators) is an advantage

  • Strong diagnostic and repair skills

  • Ability to manage records and use basic digital tools

  • Leadership and team management skills

  • Valid driving license (manual; heavy-duty preferred)
