Overview

The Master Mind Scholarship is a prestigious initiative funded by the Flemish Government to promote internationalization in higher education. Its goal is to attract outstanding students from around the world to pursue master's degrees in Flanders and Brussels.

This fully funded scholarship covers all international tuition fees and provides a substantial grant for living expenses, allowing students to focus entirely on their academic goals.

Scholarship Benefits

Successful recipients of the Master Mind Scholarship will receive:

• Full Tuition Waiver: The scholarship covers the full tuition fee at the host institution.
• Living Allowance: A grant of €10,225 per academic year to cover accommodation, insurance, and daily living expenses.
• Duration:
  • One academic year for Master’s programs totaling 60 ECTS credits.
  • Two academic years for Master’s programs totaling 120 ECTS credits.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Master Mind Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Academic Admission: The applicant must apply for and be admitted to a Master’s degree program at a participating higher education institution in Flanders (the "Host Institution").
2. Academic Excellence: Candidates must demonstrate a high standard of academic performance. A Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 out of 4.0 (or equivalent) is typically required.
3. Language Proficiency: Applicants must possess a strong command of the English language. Specific test requirements (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL) should be verified with the host institution.
4. Previous Degree: The applicant’s most recent degree must have been obtained from a higher education institution located outside the Flemish region.
5. Current Enrollment: Students currently enrolled in a Flemish higher education institution are not eligible to apply.
6. Nationality: All nationalities are eligible to apply except Russian nationals.
7. Single Nomination: An applicant can be nominated by only one Flemish institution. If preselected by multiple institutions, the student must choose one to proceed with the application.

Required Documents

Applicants must submit the following documents to the host institution or via the application portal:

• Passport Photo: A recent passport-sized photograph.
• ID/Passport: A copy of your international passport or national ID card.
• Curriculum Vitae (CV): A resume detailing your academic history, including your GPA on a 4.0 scale, as well as any publications, awards, or previous scholarships.
• Transcripts of Records: Academic transcripts from previous studies. If these are not in Dutch, French, German, or English, a certified translation must be provided.
• Diploma: A copy of obtained degree(s). If not in Dutch, French, German, or English, a certified translation is required.
• English Proficiency: Results of an English language test (e.g., IELTS/TOEFL) or an official exemption letter from the host university.
• Motivation Letter: A personal statement written in English explaining your interest in the program and the scholarship.
• Letters of Recommendation: Two signed letters of recommendation from professors at your previous university or from a recent employer. These must be in English.

How to Apply

The application process involves a collaboration between the student and the host institution. Follow these steps:

1. Check Eligibility: Verify that you meet the criteria and confirm that your chosen Flemish institution participates in the Master Mind Scholarship program.
2. Apply to the Institution: Submit an admission application to the Master’s program at your chosen Flemish host institution.
3. Institution Preselection: The host institution reviews applications and preselects eligible candidates.
4. Nomination: If preselected, the institution creates a scholarship application file for you in the Mobility-Online tool.
5. Notification: You will receive an email from Mobility-Online notifying you of your preselection.
6. Final Registration: Register in the Mobility-Online tool and complete your application file by uploading the required documents before the deadline.
7. Submission: The host institution validates your file and submits the final application to the Flemish Government.

Important Note: You cannot apply for this scholarship directly without first being preselected by a Flemish host institution.
